A roof equipped with photovoltaic modules does not attract atmospheric discharges more than a regular metal-covered roof. The installation is grounded in case such an event occurs, among other things through the use of special sheet metal fittings such as the VOLT cable channel and others. In other cases, standard sheet metal fittings are used.
The grounding of roof-integrated panels does not replace a lightning protection system (lightning rods).
