A roof equipped with photovoltaic modules does not attract lightning discharges more than a regular roof covered with sheet metal. In the event of such a case, the installation is grounded, among others, through the use of special sheet metal flashings such as the VOLT cable channel and others. In other cases, standard sheet metal flashings are used.
Grounding panels integrated with the roof does not replace the lightning protection system (lightning rods).
